Southern Off-Road Specialists Grand Opening

Saturday, November 13th 2021 was the grand opening for Southern Off-Road Specialists (SORS) at their new location in the old Movies 400 building up behind Good ol’ Days Bar & Grill. They hosted a car show complete with live performances by my brother, Chris Avant, Mason Parker, and Canon Tyler. They also had Los Rios show up with a food truck, and Good ol Days sampling out their new banana pudding. I’d put that pudding against any I’ve ever had.

The firemen showed out, as did our boys in blue, as well as USA Reflections Auto Spa with a nice Vette and booth setup. USA Reflections is a ceramic coating partner who will soon be sharing space with SORS.

A great variety of rides showed up today from giant trucks, to a tiny bug, exotics, American muscle, and a few nice resto mods. We even had an appearance with our very own spotlight sponsor, Doug LaPonzina with Unistar Technologies showing up in his Spyder. I ran into a few more familiar faces in the exotic community. @bespokelambo and @grayb777. I did an exotics ride with them awhile back and got some really cool shots.

The vehicle that first captivated our attention was the green 4Runner and the sea of lifted black and neon green work trucks for Green Basements and Remodeling.

They concluded the day with the announcements of the winners for best in show, SORS Pick, and crowd favorite and a huge raffle put together with the help of many local partners. Not everybody could win, but some took it better than others. In all fairness the boy is the son of the man on stage, owner of SORS and his ticket was pulled for a Good ol Days gift card. So dad pulled another ticket. That did not make this little boy very happy. Oops. He did make it up to his boy with cold hard cash.
