Hey guys, David here. Thank you for checking out what I’ve been up to. I publish here in an effort to help benefit my sponsors. These sponsors are local business owners just like me, so if you see ads on this website, and you need their service, please give them a call!
Today, the Forsyth Chamber had me out to photograph the State of the County Event at Lanier Conference Center. Right away I was greeted by the latest and greatest that our county has to offer in terms of keeping those of us who live here safe. #ForsythAroundFindOut I didn’t realize we had those huge ladder trucks, but turns out we have 2 in service, and a spare in case one of the two goes down. With as many apartment complexes as we’ve seen popping up lately, I feel like these are definitely necessary.
I made my way through the networking hour, photographing vendor tables, and grabbing pics of anyone willing. While some of the sponsors are local businesses, others were programs and I guess divisions? in the county Such as Parks & Rec, Forsyth County’s 911 Service, and Forsyth County Heroes.
The main event started at 11:15 with a few introductions and a few videos. Compared to many of the events I’ve photographed for the Chamber, this one was definitely video heavy. If you want to see those, you’ll have to watch their stream. They talked about what it costs to do the things we do in this county, our parks, our roads, our fantastic school system, and how all that factors with the property taxes, and other taxes that the county collects. They took a short break for lunch which was provided by Cherry Street. Observing the process, I would highly recommend them using some trays and legs for serving. Two plates per server per trip just seems like a lot of trips to me.
After lunch was served, we heard from Georgia Power, Beaver Toyota/Mazda, Atlanta Landscape Group. You’ll see in the gallery below the numbers for Beaver Toyota which are pretty awesome. They mentioned they’re looking for ways for their employees to help nonprofits in the county. They want something like 600 hours I believe of help from their employees this year. So if you can find a way for them to give back through a 501c, reach out.
Overall, super informative event. Definitely worth attending.
